Eeben Barlow speaks about his life and his new book,
Executive Outcomes: Against All Odds. Barlow, a former member of the National Party-era South African Defense Force, commanded its elite special forces 32 Battalion Reconnaissance Wing. He founded the private military contractor Executive Outcomes (EO) in 1989, which is the model on which all Private Military Companies (PMCs) operating in Iraq and Afghanistan are based. Barlow has also been involved in providing counter-insurgency as well as peacekeeping forces to mainly under-developed – but mineral-rich – countries in Africa and Asia.
