There is a great picture of the Boer Protest March posted at the Boerevryheid site found at: http://www.boerevryheid.co.za/modules/Content/cover.php?coverid=9 . This must be the picture that Mnr. Henri Pinkham was referring to during the program. It is a fantastic picture. Just about all of the Boer independence / republican flags were in the photo with the possible exception of Potchefstroom republican flag -though a few of the flags are just barely visible (hidden somewhat behind the flags in front of / beside them), but still quite identifiable nonetheless.
I am quite knowledgeable concerning Boer history and am able to identify just about any historical Boer flag. For those who might be interested: the flags shown in the picture from the March 4 2006 Boer Protest March in Pretoria are as follows.
From left to right. The red white & blue horizontal tri colour was used at Swellendam & Graaff-Reinet in 1795. The next flag with the blue vertical bar was the flag of the Nieuwe Republiek (Vrijheid) (1884 - 1888) which was later incorporated into the Zuid Afrikaansche Republiek (Transvaal). The next flag is the Stellaland flag (used from 1883 - 1885) which is not too visible due to a lack of wind for it.
The red white & blue variation flag partially obscured in the background is the Natalia Republic flag (1839 - 1843).
The orange & white horizontal striped flag with the red white & blue tr- colour in the canton is the striking flag of the Orange Free State / Oranje Vrij Staat (1854 - 1902). The next flag is the Goshen Republic flag. The next flag is the Zuid Afrikaansche Republiek / Transvaal
Republic flag (1852 - 1902).
The flag immediately behind the ZAR flag in the picture with the red X or saltire on a blue background (which is just slightly visible) is the Voortrekker flag which was used by those who followed Hendrik Potgieter as well as used later at Zoutpansberg & a variation (with white fimbriated border around the saltire) was used at Potchefstroom during the 1840s as well as briefly as the flag of the Zuid Afrikaansche Republiek from 1874 - 1875 during the tenure of President Thomas Francois Burgers.
The next flag is the Orange White & Blue tri-colour Prince Flag which was used by the Dutch East India Company at the Cape & was the original Dutch flag which was used when the Dutch were fighting the Spanish for the independence of the Netherlands. This flag is currently being used by some Afrikaner independence movements. The final flag at the lead of the
procession at the far right appears to be a black flag.
I am so glad that the Right Perspective devotes time every week during its broadcast during the Hello Africa segment to speak with actual Boers & Afrikaners to highlight & raise awareness of the plight of the Boers & Afrikaners. I just found the podcasts of the program a few weeks ago & have not missed the program since. This program is really the only program that I am aware of that devotes time to this very important issue & it is refreshing to hear people who are so informed concerning the facts of the Boer nation.
